Yasmin Levy at The Rialto Theater at Georgia State University

02/18/2012 - 8:00pm
02/18/2012 - 10:00pm
Etc/GMT-5

Yasmin Levy seamlessly blends the ancient, romantic sounds of the Jewish culture long ago nurtured and then exiled from Spain with that country’s passionate flamenco tradition. Joining her on stage is the renowned Turkish performer Omar Faruk Tekbilek.

Born in Jerusalem 31 years ago, Yasmin Levy was introduced to Ladino singing and culture from a very young age. Her father was the leading figure in the world of research into and preservation of the Judeo-Spanish culture, dating back to the 15th century in Spain. Today, it remains one of the most moving and romantic musical traditions of all times. In her deep, spiritual and moving style of singing, Yasmin preserves and revives the most beautiful songs from the Ladino/Judeo-Spanish heritage, mixing it with Andalusian Flamenco.

Yasmin will be performing at the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University. The show will be Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 8:00 PM.
