Barry Swartz Joins American-Israel Chamber of Commerce Professional Staff Executive Named VP Trade & Development

The American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, SE Region (AICC) has named Barry Swartz its Vice President of Trade & Development. He will also serve as Executive Director of the American Israel Educational Institute, the charitable affiliate of the Chamber. In this new position, he will lead the organization’s new outreach initiatives to corporations and philanthropy as well as educational and matchmaker programs that stimulate trade and investment between Southeast and Israeli companies.
“I am excited to bring my professional expertise to an organization that serves as the third
pillar—economic development---along with philanthropy and advocacy, that enhances our ability
to stand in solidarity with Israel,” Swartz said.
Barry Swartz is a highly accomplished global not-for-profit organization executive who brings
nearly 30 years of experience in the philanthropic world, most recently as Senior Vice President
of the Jewish Federations of North America. He has been recognized for cutting edge initiatives
and leadership that transforms organizations. Among his many achievements, he created the
continental system-wide emergency preparedness and response system which raised $70
million for domestic disasters, and he directed the JFNA Consulting division, Next Generation
programs, and the Washington Public Policy Office.
Swartz holds a Masters degree in Jewish Communal Service from Brandeis University, an
Honors BA in Religious Studies and Sociology from York University, Downsview, Ontario,
Canada, and is a graduate of the Mandel Executive Development Program.
“Barry’s deep connection to the Chamber stems from his being part of the formation of our
organization twenty years ago. He brings outstanding skills and experiences to AICC that will
help propel us to the next level,” said Tom Glaser, President.
