Edith G. Sacks, 92

Edith G. Sacks, 92, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. She was born in St. Louis, MO and moved to Atlanta in 1971 with her husband to be near their children. A loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edith was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Meyer Sacks, and her adoring son-in-law, Fred Loef of Athens, GA. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Sharon Loef of Athens, Barbi Sacks and Lenie Sacks, both of Atlanta; her granddaughters, Julie Weiss and her husband Eric, Amy Loef, and Lauren Skalla and her husband Marc; and her great-grandchildren, Zackary and Joie Beth Weiss, and Eva Skalla. Edith was active in many Jewish organizations and was loved by all who knew her. A longtime member of B’nai Torah Synagogue, she will be sadly missed by her family and friends in St. Louis and Atlanta and will be remembered as a beloved, caring, and very funny lady whose kitchen always smelled wonderful of her freshly-baked Kamish Bread. To know her was to love her as she was a true “Woman of Valor,” who dedicated her life to the well-being of her family. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Edith’s long-time, devoted caregivers, Beverly Bulgin and Doreen White-Ricketts. An on-line guestbook is available at www.edressler.com and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epstein School, Hospice Atlanta or Congregation B'nai Torah. Graveside services were 11:00 a.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
