Harry Zachary Brownstein, 85

Harry Zachary Brownstein, born December 17, 1926 in Bronx, NY, died January 13, 2012 at the age of 85. After graduating high school, Harry joined the Army and served in the German occupation at the end of WWII. Upon his return, he attended college at the University of Florida and then began a long career in the retail shoe business. Harry married Faye Marilyn Torn of Jacksonville, FL on June 17, 1951. They settled in Lakeland, FL where they ran the business together and raised three children. After Faye passed away in 2005, Harry moved to Atlanta to be near his children. He enjoyed playing handball, running and exercising. Harry also liked playing bridge, reading novels, and spending time with family and friends. In 1987, Harry and Faye fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to Israel. He is survived by his children, Stephen Brownstein and his wife, Nell, Cheryl Kacher and her husband, Brad, and Jay Brownstein and his wife Tien; and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, today, at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. Arrangements by Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.
