Dave Bender, Israel Correspondent AJN
Dave Bender grew up in New York, Florida, Texas and Israel, and
recently resettled in the Jewish State after concluding what he calls an "amazing" three-year stint here in Georgia as an all-format/radio journalist: Dave won a 2008 Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association award during his tenure as Columbus bureau chief for Georgia Public Broadcasting Radio News, and covered metro Atlanta stories for both GPB and WABE FM 90.1.
In his 25-years in Israel, Dave worked for over a decade as a multimediajournalist and correspondent for many American and international news organizations, and has reported for MSNBC, The Jerusalem Post, and the BBC, among others - and has tracked down Elvis in Jerusalem. Dave regularly posts excerpts of his work at his website, www.davebrianbender.com, blogs at Israel At Level Ground, and posts to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
Dave's also a very proud dad to "awesome" teenage triplets, Shmaya Arieh, Shayna Yisca, and Pria Reut -- "themselves a major news story," in his words, and used to rock da' house as a performing guitarist and band leader with "The Alte' Rockers."
Last, but not least, Dave demobilized from the Israel Defense Forces a few years back after 20-years of reserve and active-duty service in the Artillery Corps, and the Nahal Infantry Brigade.
